Sunday morning, while enjoying my morning coffee outside, I was struck with the inspiration to drive through Mule Creek and visit Morenci, Arizona. Not having been there yet, I thought it sounded like an excellent adventure.

Posted by on May 19, 2017 in blog, Building, Silver City, Small House Living, Travel | 2 comments

We have been silent for awhile because we have been busy on another project…

We wrote a book! It chronicles the first half of our journey from our big house to our recently completed, perfect, small house. We will release it soon as a Kindle book so it will be downloadable at Amazon. We will post an update here when it is available online, so be sure to subscribe to the blog (using the box in the sidebar) if you would like to be notified.

German Night in San Lorenzo – Tienda del Sol
November 9

We recently heard about a weekly ethnic food night over in San Lorenzo – essentially the Mimbres, due east of us.  The owners of the establishment are German and they serve German food every Wednesday.  Sounds fun…

We finally made it out and were the lucky recipients of the last plates of the German food.  Brian had spaetzel and schnitzel and I had had spaetzel with bratworst.  The bratworst were huge and one plate could Continue Reading...

A Delightful Trip to Tucson

Posted by on Oct 27, 2016 in blog, Travel | 0 comments

Recent horrifying discovery –

Reserve, NM & Forest Development Road 41 (FDR 41)

We had a really productive Saturday this past weekend.  We cut and attached more trim, leaving just the piano wall and a few small pieces in the bathroom.  We also cleaned house, took care of the trees, applied more coffee grounds at their bases and de-limed the brewing equipment at the coffee drive-through (we can’t call it a shack anymore because now it is painted and beautiful). To finish off the evening, we made an incredible endive recipe – Braised Belgian Endive.

Given the irregularity in our current posting, a numbered system probably no longer makes sense.  Here are our pending projects –

  • Finish the barbed wire fence.  We need to complete the third run on the southwest side and then

Wild Mushroom Festival, Mystic, CT 2016

Posted by on Sep 28, 2016 in blog, Travel | 1 comment

An early flight out of Tucson had us in Connecticut by 5:30pm.

After a 20 minute drive to get to Manchester, we enjoyed a nice dinner with Brian’s family.  Brian spent the night in Manchester and I stayed with my girlfriends down in Mystic, CT.

We spent our Sunday mornings separately and met up at 12:45pm at the Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center for the 15th annual Wild Mushroom Festival.  The admission this Continue Reading...
