Day 13 – Strange events, Studs & Nails

Our day at work started with a few odd events.  First off, as you can see in the above image, we encountered an unusual figure while running errands.  A friend of ours called him the ‘Dark Knight of Compassion.”  Secondly, after a customer (who is visiting from Albuquerque) purchased a drink and left, he quickly returned to ask us a few questions…

“You guys are new-ish to Silver City, right?  Maybe you can help me with a situation.  I locked my car last night and got in it this morning to find this large zucchini (he held up a HUGE zucchini) on my passenger floorboard.  Strange, right?  Do you know what this is about?”

We assured him we did not and he ended up giving us the zucchini.  We all had a good laugh at the idea of continuing the prank by finding a car with its door open and putting the zucchini inside.

Abandoned Car – Missed Opportunity
The work day also ended with an unexpected event.  A car was abandoned in our drive-through.  We won’t go into the details with the police or the car owner.  What we will say is that we could have put the zucchini on their passenger floorboard BUT DID NOT.  How could we not have realized this in time!?

Tuesday Progress
We finished installing the high-up studs and wiped down two of the oil-covered cross beams.  Bleck!  Two more to go.  When Brian went up on the ladder to work on nailing the end caps, I started cutting the trim for the windows.  He was right – battery-powered circular saws are freaking awesome.

I think tonight we'll create a taller work surface. Cutting the trim on the pallet was a pain in the neck.
