Days 5, 6 & 7: More windows, Las Cruces & Cross Beams

This week has been moving along quite quickly.

Monday – We arrived at the property around 6:30, worked until the mosquitoes started eating us alive (7:55pm) and then packed it up.  We completed affixing the magic tape on the other south side window (see featured image above)

Tuesday – We drove to Las Cruces (2 hours) for supplies (spotted a roadrunner along the way), purchased a circular saw, painting supplies and more magic tape, ate an awesome Lottaburger, drove back to Silver City (2.5 hours – spent 10ish minutes at border patrol stop and drove slower due to night animals) and dragged selves into apartment around 11:20; asleep upon head hitting pillow at 11:30pm

Las Cruces appeared to be having a bout of monsoon chaos as we were coming into town. The wind was blowing fiercely and the clouds were abundant.

Wednesday – The Arched Cabin crew came back to install the cross beams so we emptied out the house in the morning.  After work, Brian went and put everything back in the house and cleaned some oil off the cross beams.  Between arriving at the apartment (5:30pm) and engaging in an old fashion dog walk to property (7:00), we did two loads of laundry, washed dinner, made dinner for two nights, put the curry in the crock and had a long conversation with Fred about noise ordinances.  After walking to the property, we spent some relaxing time in the chairs and then went home to sleep (8:20).

It's been about a week since we stopped going up to the chairs on a regular basis. The dogs eat near the building pad and we work on the house while they're chowing down. Well, in our absence, the plants have taken over!

A very cute cactus we found near the bar-ditch. Anybody know what this is called?

One of our regulars brings his dog through the drive-through with him. The dog is very personable and clearly quite comfortable in a variety of environments.
